Local Pastors

Local pastors will receive input from seasoned pastors around a variety of critical subjects for pastors:  Preaching, the Pastor’s Prayer life, Counseling and more.

Certified Lay Speakers

Sandy Jackson & Kwasi Kena

Sandy Jackson and Kwesi Kena will lead Certified Lay Speakers in the latest training materials for Speakers.  Those who attend all the classes will complete their once every three year re-certification.

Hispanic-Latino(a) Ministry

Roberto Escamilla

Dr. Roberto Escamilla and other knowledgeable leaders will guide pastors and key laity working within Hispanic ministries. Focuses on developing culturally sensitive faith communities to serve Hispanic/Latino(a) populations.

African American Leaders

Sherry Daniels , Joe Connelly

This African American Church Track with Gifted & Innovative leaders offers a perspective on practical ministry issues ranging from the art of taking time off to staff development.  Some will ask, “What’s in between?”  Preaching, Teaching, Small Group Development, Stewardship Development and Evangelism!

Upper Room Tour (Offsite) – only offered at 1:30 time

Tom Albin

Rev. Tom Albin will lead workshop participants on an off-site tour of the Upper Room at The General Board of Discipleship in downtown Nashville. This tour will focus on Methodist history and the role of Methodism today. This workshop will be offered during the 1:30 p.m. workshop time and will include free transportation and time to eat lunch. Space is limited to 75 participants.

Getting Alpha Started

Jonathan Jeffries, Jenny Noyes (offered at 1:30 pm)

This workshop covers how to run the course according to the Alpha recipe for maximum effectiveness in reaching outsiders. We’ll cover the practical and logistical side of running an Alpha course, including all the behind-the-scenes work, team selection, helpful resources available, and how to invite guests to ensure the smooth running of your course. We’ll also touch on how to run Alpha in different contexts like Prison Alpha and Campus Alpha as well as all the new Relationship Central courses like the Marriage Course and the Parenting Courses.

Facilitating Alpha Small Groups, and the Alpha Weekend Away

Jonathan Jeffries, Jenny Noyes (offered at 3:15 pm)

What happens in the Alpha small groups is essential to the success of the course. We’ll cover the fundamental goals and workings of the small group from facilitating discussion, to listening skills and pastoral care. We’ll also discuss why and how to run an effective Alpha weekend away from practical details to prayer ministry. Building trust through relationships and community in Alpha small groups is what invites God to do His transforming work through the love of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit!

TELL – How to Share Your Faith With Others

Bob Pierson

Dr. Pierson will discuss how to share your faith in a secular society.  Tools for having the faith conversation in the 21st Century and exploration of witnessing in a way that works today are included in this fast-paced workshop based on his most recent book, TELL.
